Dear Friends and Family,
Once again I will be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge this year on August 2-3 and humbly seek your support.
Founded in 1980, the PMC is a bike ride from central Massachusetts to Cape Cod in support of Boston's renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Since its founding in the 1940's, Dana Farber has become a global leader in cancer research, treating patients from around the world while tirelessly researching cures for cancer.
My impetus for riding in past PMCs has been both my sister Tania Zadow Chabas and uncle Rufus Perkins, both of whom succumbed to cancer far too young. I wish they were my only family members afflicted by cancer, but sadly they are not. This year I introduce to you another family member: my wonderful mother-in-law, Mary Carroll Epperlein, who is presently undergoing cancer treatment. Her characteristic strength ond positivity will propel me yet further.
You may know these family members and you may not. No matter. They are but three loved ones among the millions who have suffered, or continue to suffer with cancer. Indeed, I'm sure you know names to add to the endless list. I ride for all of them, proudly supporting Dana Farber's charge to beat cancer, a mission transcending nations, politics, religions and races.
I recognize that other organizations compete for your charitable dollars, But for those of you who are able, I gratefully welcome anything you can give. The PMC has no overhead; 100% of your donations go to Dana Farber's cancer research.
Again, let's do this together.
In health, and with gratitude,
Aram
PS - Whether or not you are donating, please let me know if you'd like me to add any name of a loved one to my list of names on my handlebar-mounted bike pack. They'll be with me - in heart, mind and direct line of sight - throughout my ride.
