My name is Amanda Wirene, and I can't think of a better way to honor my Aunt Carol's passing than to ride the PMC this year with my family. Aunt Carol was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2018. She fought hard and her over two-year journey with cancer had many ups and downs. Aunt Carol passed in Februrary 2021.
Over the years, my mom, aunt, uncle, and cousin have all done the PMC, and I've always thought, 'yeah, that would be fun...,' but I never followed through. Now I know I was waiting for this opportunity to ride beside my cousin Julia (Aunt Carol's daughter), and the rest of our family, and make the PMC 2022 a remembrance ride for Aunt Carol. She was kind, intelligent, silly, unique, beautiful, and an important part of my life. She also loved being outside, which is why I love the idea of riding in the sunshine in her honor.
