Dear family and friends,
In 2018 I still can't rewrite this letter from 2016:
On February 11th, 2016 Amie lost her eleven year battle with cancer. After riding by her side and in honor of her fight for nine years, in 2016 we are sadly riding in her memory.
I write this letter sitting in the room where Amie took her last breath. Where her mother and I held her hands and kissed her goodbye. Where I told her, one last time, that I would keep all of the promises we had made to our children. Where her final moments peacefully ended with the same smile that she had throughout her beautiful life.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t have one of “those” moments, when something reminds me of my wife and I struggle to not completely lose it. When the chairlift stops on the wheels of the chairlift pole, you get to make a wish, I have been making the same wish for eleven years. I don’t get to make that wish for Amie any more. I had ice drops on my cheeks. But now I can make a new wish, the wish that together, we can eradicate all types of cancer and save people from the pain and cruelty of this horrible disease.
One of Amie’s wishes was for me to continue riding the Pan Mass Challenge, to continue her fight, to continue everyone’s fight against cancer. To us the PMC was much more than an endurance bike ride and a fund raiser event, it became a part of our lives, year round, and filled our hearts and lives with passion, purpose, love and friendship.
Over Amie's nine year PMC tenure she raised almost $125,000 and shared $34,000 of that fundraising with teammates and friends to help them reach their fundraising goals. Amie's fundraising figures are a true testament to her endless frienship and the generosity of all of you.
Please help honor Amie's memory and legacy with a donation to the cause that was such an integral part of her identity. We thank you all for the support you have already provided. We are again asking for your emotional support as well as any monetary pledges based on this 200 mile bike-a-thon. I am proud to accept anything you can offer. Also, many companies match charitable donations made by their employees…and any extra funding helps.
You can make a donation directly on this site (Amie’s ID is www2.pmc.org/AW0069 and Greg’s ID is www2.pmc.org/GW0047) and it will benefit our fundraising efforts. If you prefer to mail a donation, please make your check payable to the Pan-Mass Challenge, and mail it directly to us at 137 Bradford Street, Needham, MA 02492.
We thank you very much for all your support.
With all of our love,
Amie, Greg, Alex and Jonathan
