Every year of the PMC is memorable. The year of The Rains, the Hottest year, the Coldest year, the year of No Gears, etc.
2024 is the Year of the Eye Ball Explosion. 1/10, do not recommend.
About 3 weeks before the PMC ride, my left eyeball hemorranged and I had to stop all training. I was medically cleared to ride just days before the event and had yet to complete a training ride longer than 62 miles. The outpouring of support was amazing. Thank you to my entire family and my incrediable husband.
When I started riding the PMC over a decade ago, I never realized what an impact it would have on me, my friends, and my family. I have had the honor to listen to people's stories about their family's battle with cancer and ride in memory of parents, grandparents, cousins, friends, siblings, and children.
I ride in honor of my mother and in memory of Joanne Thomas, a close family friend who was lost to esophageal cancer, and Darrell Cain, a brilliant aerospace engineer from MIT and amazing actor who was lost after a three-year battle to brain cancer.
Please give to the cause and help make cancer a distant memory.
Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past, patients get world-class care because of you. Special thank you to the men and women of the Portsmith Naval Yard. Y'all rock.
