I participated in my first PMC in 2004, after I lost my friend Bob to cancer in August 2003. That's us in the team rokkaku battle at a kite festival. Bob was an avid kite flier, mountain and road biker, boomerang thrower, and technology expert.
In 2006, I added another name to my ride. The running community lost Steve Burton, coach of the Somerville Road Runners. Steve had a huge impact on runners all over New England, myself included. He encouraged everyone to strive for their best and truly enjoy the experience.
In 2015, it was my turn. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy the day after the 2015 ride. Now I am back doing everything I did before my diagnosis; I'm living proof!
I volunteered in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 and rode in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. In 2019, I ride in memory of Bob and Steve.
