This years ride may be over but I still need your help in this fight against cancer! Please help me meet my goal of raising $6000 that goes directly to Dana farber Cancer Institute!
I am so honored to announce that this will be my third year riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a 162-mile bike ride from Wellesley to P-town to raise money for Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund to continue to provide the highest quality of care to patients fighting cancer and to continue their incredible research efforts in hopes of finding a cure.
In March of 2020, just as we went into lockdown here in Boston, my dad, my best friend, was diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer. At the time, I was a new nurse working with covid patients, and I couldn't even risk going home to see him after he got his diagnosis. My dad has always been good about attending doctors' appointments and alerting them if anything out of the ordinary is going on. Still, sadly, even so, his prostate cancer likely went undiagnosed for many years. Getting your PSA checked after 40 is a significant way of reducing your risk of prostate cancer!
Immediately after my dad's diagnosis, my friends at BWH help me set dad up with a team at Dana Farber. My dad's treatment team has been incredibly supportive and professional from day one. My dad deeply trusts all the providers who care for him and is very grateful. Fast forward to today, three years later, my dad is cancer free and thriving. He has changed his lifestyle in many ways finding the therapeutic effects of cycling and cooking nutritious foods. I could not be more proud of his outlook and focus on his health. My dad never let cancer slow him down one bit. My dad is an avid cyclist, and I'm so excited to announce that HE WILL BE JOINING ME THIS YEAR ON THE 2ND DAY FROM BOURNE TO PTOWN <3.
I will be cycling alongside some of my dearest friends to honor those who are no longer with us but never lost their fighting spirits and smiles, even through harsh treatments and a rollercoaster of emotions. I am cycling for everyone who is currently fighting and for all cancer survivors.
I ride for my incredible patients who embody a true fighting spirit daily.
My ride is dedicated in honor of my dad and in memory of Papa John, Mama Boli, and all of the patients I have the privilege to care for and get to know. These incredible people have shaped my life in so many positive ways.
If you have someone you would like to donate in honor or memory of, please include their name in the notes or email me. I will add their name to a ribbon and wear it proudly on my jersey, keeping them in my thoughts as I bike 192 miles.
If there is one thing I have realized, it’s that cancer doesn’t discriminate and that we all know someone or have been impacted by this disease somehow. PLEASE JOIN ME IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER! Your donation, whatever size, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your incredible generosity.
FUCK CANCER!
