I ride because I can.
On Nov 26th 2012, I got a call that changed my life. I was diagnosed with cancer. Receiving a life-altering diagnosis was devastating and immediately opened up a door to so many questions I never wanted to ask. Faced with news this big, it can evoke a sense of helplessness and is hard to know where to even begin. My wife and I spent the following hours navigating a range of strong emotions, including fear, disbelief, and powerlessness. With 3 kids ranging in age from 1 to 7, we spiraled through lists of questions, not knowing if we could handle the answers that might be waiting.
Then something incredible happened. The next day, my wife and I were able to meet with an oncologist to learn more about the type of cancer I had. Within hours, we had gotten our most pressing questions answered. I left the office that day with more than I could have imagined in the hours before — I had hope.
This hope was possible by the incredible advancement in cancer research, treatments, and care made possible by the thousands of people dedicated to finding a cure for this devastating disease. The PMC’s mission to raise funds helps support these researchers and clinicians. No doubt I have benefited, now is my time to give back.
I ride to honor all those who helped me. I ride to honor my family and friends who have their own cancer journeys. I ride because I can.
Please Donate to My Ride, I sincerely appreciate it.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
