On August 4th and 5th, I will be taking to the streets of Massachusetts and participating in the 2018 Pan-Mass Challenge (a 192 mile bike-a-thon) in the memory of a longtime team member at Zachys, John Dawson. John was as courageous as they come in his battle with cancer. In 2005, after retiring from a full career working for The United States Post Office, he followed a lifelong passion….WINE!!
His passion for wine was infectious with co-workers and clients alike. He was loved by all and we could think of no better ambassador of our brand. Through all his treatments fighting off Cancer, we could not keep him away. Our concern was with his health and well-being but being with his family and his “Zachys Family” is what gave him the greatest joy. He fought and fought and fought and always showed me that I should never give up.
During all his years of treatment John inspired me to do the one thing I could, which was fight for the people affected by cancer.
Our hearts were broken at Zachys when he lost his battle with Cancer last year, but we will fight on and there can be no better cause than The Pan-Mass Challenge.
I am committed to raise as much money as possible to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and survive 192 miles of riding. Let me bear the burden of slogging through the 192 miles, and all I ask is that you help support me by donating to the effort.
It’s not worth doing it unless you are really going to DO IT, so I have set a lofty goal in my first attempt of raising $10,000! These goals are only made possible through the generous support of so many people. To make sure that I have plenty of skin in the game, I am going to match 25% of all donations.
