Why I Ride ...
I am excited to announce that on Saturday August 2nd, I will be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) for the second year in a row, an annual bike-a-thon from Boston to Cape Cod! The PMC is the largest single athletic fundraising event in the world, which raises money to fight and beat cancer. 100 percent of all rider-raised dollars go to supporting cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I am riding 85 miles from Wellesley to Bourne on behalf of all those in my life who have and are fighting cancer, including both of my grandfathers and grandmother. My Uncle Tom finished his treatment at Dana Farber this past winter and is staying strong fighting his cancer. I am also riding as part of Team Next Generation, a group of young riders who ride on behalf of our pedal partner, Sophia. Sophia is a four year old who is being treated for Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a rare type of brain cancer, by Dr. Yeo at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber. With your support, I hope to contribute and raise over $4,000 for Dana-Farber in this year's ride. I would be immensely grateful for any amount you might be willing to donate and thank you in advance for your support! Every donation brings us closer by the mile.
With Love,
Arianna Lowney
