I
Dear friends,
This August, for the third time, I will be riding in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). At age 77, this could be my very last PMC ride.
Almost all of us have friends and family who have been rocked by cancer and, it seems that as I’ve gotten older, more and more friends and family members have been effected. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I had two close friends, Tom and David who were also avid cyclists who passed away at young ages after contracting cancer. At the time, it made no sense to me how two people who were both fitness fanatics could succumb to cancer at such a young age.
Since then, cancer has not spared my family members and other friends including my brother and several cousins, my friends Mark H, Bruce and John and a former colleague Mark C. Several of them have been treated at DFCI and each one has been grateful for the wonderful treatment they’ve received.
So when I ride with team Paul’s Posse in the PMC this year in early August for 192 miles over two days starting in Sturbridge and ending in Provincetown, I will be thinking about my brother, my cousins and my good friends who are or have been treated for cancer. I will especially be wishing that my friends Tom and David could be riding with me.
The PMC raises money for research and care at Dana-Farber. This year it is particularly important to raise funds for DFCI. Our government has reduced funding for medical research and DFCI will be effected by this reduction. My effort relies on your selfless generosity. No gift is too small. 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.
I've made a personal commitment to ride and raise $6,000 and I would like to match or exceed my previous fundraising achievements. So I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal. Please donate to my PMC ride at one of the following links:
Every donation brings us closer by the mile.
Thank you,
Andy Freeman
Your donation is tax deductible and 100% will go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. If you prefer to write a check, please make it out to the PMC, The Jimmy Fund or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and mail it to me directly at:
