Support me in my first in-person PMC ride!

I’ve participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge virtually for a few years, but 2025 will be my first time riding in person — and I’m SO excited. Scroll through my photos and you’ll see the one and only picture of me doing the virtual ride back in 2020, at the height of COVID, biking from Santa Cruz to Monterey and back.

I’m proud to support the PMC because of everything it does to fund life-saving cancer research. 100% of the money I raise goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which supports more than 1,000 clinical trials and provides cutting-edge treatment to hundreds of thousands of patients each year. Dana-Farber continues to lead in research, prevention, detection, and community programs — and the PMC is DFCI's largest annual fundraiser. Not only that, the PMC is the world’s largest athletic charity event. This year, I’ll be biking 186 miles over two days to support this incredible cause.

I ride for every single person I know — because everyone, in some way, has been affected by cancer. Whether it's our own diagnosis or that of a loved one, we all know the heartbreak this disease brings.

Over the past few years, cancer has hit closer and closer to home. In late 2023, a college friend of mine passed away from a rare osteosarcoma. It felt like cancer’s way of saying “f*** you” — striking someone so young, so vibrant, so healthy. Then in 2024, my sister-in-law’s mother passed away after battling glioblastoma. Watching someone I love — someone as strong and positive as my sister-in-law — process that grief has left a deep impact on me. I ride for both of them.

I also ride for the many children I worked with at Stanford Children’s Hospital, especially those in the PICU who had just received a cancer diagnosis or were deep into their battle. Being by their side changed me. I ride for the kids I met through the Ronald McDonald House and Camp Ronald McDonald — some of whom have since lost their fight. I feel incredibly lucky to have shared some unforgettable summers with them, and I’ll be thinking of all of them on this ride.

This ride holds an extra special place in my heart this year, as I am dedicating this ride to my uncle Kenwrick. Kenwrick passed away in May 2025 from an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. Kenwrick was one of the most gentle people I had met. He surprised me every time I saw him because he could recall every single lacrosse accolade I received, even better than I could. He knew what games I played well in and supported me through the ones that I didn't. He was a proud uncle and I was always grateful that he followed my college lacrosse career so closely. More importantly, he was so supportive of everything I did and every decision I made. I will miss him dearly and I know I will be thinking about him in August as I ride.

I was introduced to the PMC by my friend Dillon, who has ridden since 2015 with her dad, Jon. He sadly passed away from prostate cancer in 2017, but I’ll always remember him as one of the most resilient, loving dads out there — a constant supporter on the sidelines of our college lacrosse games. This year, I’m honored to join Team Ocho Cinco, a team created in his memory, and to ride for Jon Schoen. (p.s. I’m grateful to be healthy and able-bodied enough to do this ride. Help me give back, and help us keep pushing for a cure.
