Why I Ride ...
Why I ride?
This year will proudly be my 3rd year riding the Pan-mass-challenge a 200 mile bike-a-thon raising money for cancer research. My older sister Rachel will be joining the team and now my whole family will be riding to support Dana Farber a cause very close to our hearts. My dad is a 35-year cancer survivor and I am lucky to ride with him, my mom, my older sisters Leah and Rachel & my twin sister Jessica.
Every Sunday morning in the summer we set our alarms early and hop on our bikes to train for the big day. We start training at 40 miles and increase the mileage each week til we get to 90 miles. Thankfully the 90 miles is our last ride before the PMC. Typically it is on the nicest, hottest day of the summer. The hard work does pay off when the PMC comes and we remember all of the miles we put in the get to where we are. But that isn’t what gets me through the ride. What gets me though is thinking about how I can change the lives of cancer patients so they do not have to suffer. I think about how many people suffer to this disease and how my ride can give people strength who need it. When I am on my ride it bring tears to my eyes when I see people holding signs of a loved one they lost to cancer. It breaks my heart to know that cancer affects many many people in this world and I want to raise as much money as I can to help people who need it. My goal is 6,000 for myself and my family as a whole needs to raise 36,000. I know we can do it and make a change for cancer patients. I hope that everybody who reads this takes a couple minutes out of their day to donate and lend a helping hand.
100% of every rider raised dollar goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute
