After workng as an infusion pharmacist at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for 10 years, I became a Medical Science Liaison supporting oncology research in the pharmaceutical industry. I'm proud to say I work for Genmab, because it is a scientifically driven company with a patient-first mindset. With hopes to improve survival rates through inventing new cancer drugs, Genmab fuels my passion for oncology and makes me excited to go to work every day.
This will be my sixth year riding the PMC, and getting to be a member of team F.L.A.M.E.S. (Fast Legs And Minds Ending Suffering) has been an absolute blessing. Our fearless team captains are survivors that motivate us all with their infectious energy and passion for paying it forward. The F.L.A.M.E.S. are comprised of health care providers, patients, survivors, loved ones, and beyond. My first year riding had such a profound impact that I can't see myself NOT riding the PMC for many years to come. It is a small contribution, but it is just one more way to help the amazing folks at Farber do what they do best... Give cancer a run for it's money! Or should I say ride? Along the ride route, patients and families yell Thank You for Riding and cheer boisterously because they know EVERY DOLLAR raised by the riders goes to DFCI. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. I am blessed to ride beside patients and healthcare professionals that I consider real life heros.
Cancer does not only affect those with the disease, but also their care partners. For that reason, my ride also honors the family and friends supporting cancr patients. To help DFCI achieve its mission of curing/preventing cancer, I am choosing to challenge myself by participating in an event where 100% of the funds raised will be given to DFCI. I understand that familes/individuals may have financial strains, so any form of support to myself or others, whether it be sharing kindness or words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I think we can all agree that the world needs that now more than ever. If you have the financial means to do so or simply spread the word about this event, your support can save lives. Literally! If you would like to see some of the folks closest to me that I want to honor, ceck out my photo gallery. This year, I am riding in remembrance of Valerie Contois. She was diagnosed with a very rare form of Lymphoma, and was taken too soon. She and my beautiful cousin Jenn are spotlighted in my profile picture this year. If you would like to honor a friend or family member, please share your favorite photo and I wll proudly display it here :)
Stay well, stay safe, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
