This year I will be riding in my 7th Pan Mass Challenge!
I ride in memory of my aunts Charlotte Wine and Evelyn Snow, my uncles Abe Snow and Bill Carcieri, Ted O'Donnell, Nancy Maloney, Una Milton, John Ferguson, June Pohlman, Audrey Labow, Kelly Ann Sheppard, Vadim Iourgenko, Abdallah Fanidi, Brian Luiz, Armand Pelletier,Thomas McDonald, Chuck Barsh, Doug Cohen, Dr Lesley Jones, and Erin Nolin. A ll have lost their battles with cancer. Sadly, this year I also ride in memory of one of my dearest friends, Dr. Jerry Pelletier: a proud father and grandfather, a brilliant scientist and mentor, and a lover of the outdoors. I'll miss our science talks and our canoe-camping treks in western Quebec; rest in peace my friend.
As examples of the possibility of a brighter future for people who have faced cancer, I also ride in honor of Elize Tumaneng, Laryssa Tierney, Chantale Guy, Shelia Violette, KyungAh Chung-Benedetti, and John Luiz, who are all awesome people and cancer survivors, as well as Perry Pomeroy who continues to prevail in collaboration with the brilliant team at the DFCI.
I am privileged to ride in the 2024 PMC as part of Team Perry, who have focused their donation efforts to support the Perry S Levy Fellowship for Gastrointestinal Research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. My Aunt Evelyn, my friend Sean Molton's mom Una, and my Uncle Bill succumbed to pancreatic cancer, which adds greater purpose to our cycling as part of this team.
I do hope that you consider making a donation to support the amazing advances in DCFI's cancer research and development that promise to bring us closer by the mile to cures!
