Join Me in the Fight Against Cancer
This August, I will embark on my 26th consecutive ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC)—a 180-mile journey to raise funds for cancer research. Over its 44-year history, the PMC has raised over $1 billion for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and for the past 20 years, 100% of rider-raised funds have gone directly to support groundbreaking research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Please join me in this fight by donating today. Together, we can help cure cancer. Consider giving $100, $200, or as much as you can.

Why I Ride
Twenty-six years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. For eight years, she fought valiantly, but the cancer returned, metastasized, and eventually took her life in June 2006. She was just 68 years old. Watching her suffer was the most stressful, helpless time in my life.
Since then, I’ve lost friends, family, and colleagues to this terrible disease. Last year, I mourned the loss of a close friend and riding companion who passed away suddenly due to undetected lung cancer. Like so many others, his life was cut short far too soon.
Cancer touches all of us in some way—it knows no boundaries of age, health, or circumstance. But there is hope. Thanks to advancements in research, survival rates are improving dramatically, and donations like yours are making a tangible difference.
The Impact of Your Donations
Your generosity fuels transformative cancer research and care:
-
Over the past five years, more than half of FDA-approved cancer drugs were developed from trials led or co-led by Dana-Farber. Many of these drugs originated from basic research funded by PMC donations, which supported innovative ideas long before they received conventional funding.
-
Additionally, your donations enable Dana-Farber to offer 1,100 clinical trials, giving hope to patients who have exhausted traditional therapies. Programs like the Zakim Center provide evidence-based therapies, improving patients' comfort and outcomes. Initiatives like Kids Kicking Cancer empower young patients with martial arts, breathing techniques, and mindfulness, giving them strength and purpose during their journey.
Every dollar you give helps Dana-Farber invest in promising research that has the potential to change lives.
-
In 1947, only 1 in 5 children with cancer survived.
-
In 2000, when I started riding, 80% of children survived their cancer.
-
Today, many childhood cancers have cure rates exceeding 98%, and overall survival rates have improved to 90%.
-
Because of your support, the child death rate has been cut in half since I started riding in the PMC.

Why Now?
We've made incredible progress in the 25 years I’ve been riding in the PMC, but there is still much work to do. The fight against cancer requires cutting-edge research, clinical trials, and compassionate care, and your donation makes it all possible.
This year, my goal is to raise $25,000, bringing my 26-year total to nearly $395,000. I cannot do this without you. Please be as generous as your circumstances allow.

Thank You
The PMC is an incredibly moving experience. Riding alongside 9,000 fellow participants, cheered on by supporters every mile, I am reminded of the power of community and our shared goal: to defeat cancer.
As Ted Williams once said, "All the bullets and bombs in the world won’t leave the impact of a dollar dropped in the Jimmy Fund pot by a warm heart and a willing hand."
Thank you for your support. Together, we can make a profound difference in countless lives.
Employer Matching
If your employer matches your gift, you may be able to donate through the PMC website and send the employer’s form electronically. If your employer uses paper, please send me the form and a check. If the employer allows it, you can still donate via the Web and send me only the form.
