Why I Ride ...
I've had many reasons to ride over the past 19 years, but the last couple of years have been different for me. My best friend John has twin 26 year-old daughters (Jill & Jenn) that have been the recipients of my endless bad jokes and teasing since they were babies. Jill, who graduated from Colby-Sawyer in 2019 and had just taken a job with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Her new job simply involves tolerating treatment and battling this disease.
With a world class smile and an attitude to boot, Jill’s taking this on (Four years of collegiate rugby experience may have something to do with it). Her treatment “downtime” involves knitting blankets for animals at the humane society.
It’s hard to imagine having your entire future come to a screeching halt, but this is exactly what cancer does over and over. The only way it can be defeated is through advanced medical technology that requires massive funding to sustain. Any support you can provide is deeply appreciated and goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute for research and treatment funding.
