Since 1980, The Pan-Mass Challenge has raised over $972 Million to support the research and care at Dana-Farber Institute. This is an extraordinary amount of money. Every penny goes directly to the work of Dana-Farber. All who support the PMC have a personal story about how they have been touched by cancer. People, like us on TEAM MG, ride for a reason.
Our team was founded to support the Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer at Dana Farber. The MG in Team MG comes from Margie, the sister of our team's Founder and Captain Emeritus Gerry Donnellan. Margie lost her struggle with esophago-gastric cancer. We honor many other loved ones and friends who have been or are impacted by esophageal and gastric cancer, including Peter Riley, John Nichols, Bart Catalane, David Beal, and many, many others.
We ride to honor the memory of MG (Margie) and to make a difference in the lives of all those touched by these difficult diseases.
The Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer
At Dana-Farber’s Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer, the mission is to improve the outcome for patients with esophageal and stomach cancer by advancing national standards of care, using the best therapies available, minimizing complications through collaboration in multi-disciplinary clinics, and developing innovative therapies for the future. The Center brings together specialists from Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC) who are improving the way these cancers are diagnosed and treated. The team of medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, and pathologists has decades of experience in caring for patients with esophageal cancer and gastric (stomach) cancer, as well as Barrett's esophagus.
How You Can Help
Our goal is simple: As TEAM MG, we want to raise money to support the Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to empower the doctors and scientists to make the discoveries that bring patients better outcomes. Some of our teammates also choose to support additional areas of cancer care at Dana-Farber as their lives are impacted by different types of cancer.
There are several ways for you to get involved: we need and want more team members to ride with us. We are definitely NOT professional, expert riders. We do several legs of the PMC: the entire 192-mile ride from Sturbridge, MA, the 50 mile one-day ride, the 84 mile, one-day ride from Wellesley, MA to Bourne; and the 168 mile, 2 day ride from Wellesley to Provincetown.
Ride with us! We will help you get in shape to do it! Or, you can donate directly to the team on this page. You can also donate for individual team members. You can become a virtually rider on the team. Whatever works for you! You can also enjoy PMC wine and craft beer -- ask your local spirits dealer about it!
