Why We Ride ...
Our team rides to support the search for a cure for ASPS and in honor of Ynbal Landesman, who was diagnosed in 2003 with Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS). ASPS does not respond to traditional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. Thanks to the funds that were raised by Team ASPS (a total of over $500,000, in 17 rides: PMC 2004 - PMC 2020), the first cancer vaccine clinical trial for ASPS at the Dana Farber was started in January 2006. Then the ARQ197 and the Pazopanib clinical trials were offered for ASPS patients. In 2009, the Cediranib clinical trial was opened, followed a few years later by the Axitinib plus Pembrolizumab trial. Doctors and researchers at Dana Farber are pursuing additional research programs to identify other types of therapies that might be tailored to fight ASPS.
