The PMC is a fabulous event that supports a wonderful cause. The funds raised on this bike ride are used to support world class cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). I rode this event for six straight years from 2011-2016. In 2018, at age 70, I rode the full 2-day 192-mile ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown. I feel truly fortunate to have been sufficiently healthy to be one of the very few riders over age 70 to complete the full 2-day long course. This year, at age 74, with Covid hopefully subsiding by the summer and vaccinations available, I am again planning to ride. I have signed up for the one-day 85-mile ride from Wellesley to Bourne. My family and friends have been personally impacted by cancer, as have everyone’s family. Fortunately, innovative research from institutions such as the DFCI has led to long-term survivals in both family and friends. Your support of my ride will be much appreciated and you can be sure that any funds contributed will go to a good cause. One hundred per cent of the funds raised are passed through to the DFCI. I plan to train hard to be able to complete the 85-mile journey on August 6. Again I will be participating with friends on Team Porto-TRADE. Remarkably, our team has raised over $1,000,000 since we started participaing in the PMC in 2011!
