This is my 20th year riding but have been involved with the PMC for longer than that. I am so fortunate that Mike does the majority of my fundraising so that I can have the privelege of participating in this event.The commitment is large and is so much work between the fundraising and the training, but PMC weekend (this year being Aug 2-3) is always a truly remarkable weekend. Cyclists and volunteers come together to create a combined effort to raise as much money as possible for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The event has been going since 1980 and has, as of last year, surpassed 1 Billion dollars--all going directly to research. And these fundraising dollars, with the diminishing federal cancer research funding, are more important than ever. Whatever you can contribute to this effort is very much appreciated both by the PMC and to Mike and me. Every rider-raised dollar goes directly to cancer research. Just like all of us, I've lost loved ones to cancer and have honored many loved ones fighting the disease over the years. But this year I'm especially riding for my nephew Steven who lost his battle against cancer this year. He'll be extra close to my heart as I ride this year. This one's for you Sweetheart.
