Working at the Jimmy Fund Clinic has been the most amazing 30 PLUS years!
The laughter, the smiles, and the courage of these families have changed my life forever.
There are so many incredible memories I cherish, but the memories that seem to flood into my head when the question is asked of me are the ones of all the children who over the years, I have watched sit on Santa's lap and share their wishes and hopes.
The magic and the spirit of the holidays shine bright each year for our Jimmy Fund families, because of everyone who contributes to my ride!
The 2nd annual Polar Express event happens because of Team ROAR. Our Jimmy Fund Clinic families were in their Christmas PJs as they enjoyed all the festivities on their magical train ride to the North Pole. When Santa boarded our train, the eyes were bright and smiles so wide on every child and parent. Just pure JOY!!
With our funds we also can provide 2 weeks of Christmas in December that takes place in our Jimmy Fund Clinic. The clinic is transformed into a Winter Wonderland. No really, a place where children receive chemotherapy is now filled with candy cane lane, snowflakes falling from the ceilings, and gingerbread houses.
This year Santa was able to be in clinic once again,and as the children received their treatments, he sat with them and our clinic felt joy and magic! The joy was in their eyes, the wonder was on their faces, and their smiles were so bright. Yes, Santa brought the spirit of the holidays into our Jimmy Fund Clinic. It was all simply beautiful, and to these families it was everything. Being able to bring Santa into our Jimmy Fund Clinic is one of the most magical experiences.
At the end of the holidays, we all said goodbye to our dear friend Santa who touched the lives of hundreds of children, and again I got emotional knowing the impact that was had by hundreds of beautiful children.
Because of the unbelievably high amount raised last year, this team of Reindeer also has become a co primary sponsor for the Annual Jimmy Fund Clinic Summer Festival for 3,000 guests. This past September was an absolutely perfect day where families gathered at the Franklin Park Zoo for our private event. Yes, we bought the Zoo for this day! A day where our patients and their families get to enjoy a day for just them, and feel pure joy.
This is why I stay doing what I am doing. We can make a difference, and it is not that difficult. It is crucial to forever impact the lives of each patient and their family that walk through the doors of the Jimmy Fund Clinic. A mom recently said, thank you for providing pockets of joy for our family Our mission is to continually fill these pockets of JOY!!
This year will be my 21st Pan Mass Challenge, and once again captain a team of Reindeer!
Team ROAR...Reindeer on a Ride!
I am so honored to be able to ride with a group of special people who have all experienced cancer in different ways, and yet we will all ride for these children so they will experience the magic, the hope, and the joy that the Winter & Summer Festival bring each year.
This team will truly make a difference in the lives of so many beautiful children and their families.
