Dear Friends,
Thank you so much to all of you who have supported my cycling quests!!! This will be my 11th PMC. I owe my success to all of the Teams that I ride with and to the extended team of supporters that includes all of you. I have logged more than 20,000 miles with a host of truly inspirational people riding alongside me and cheering for me from the sidelines.
Once again, I will ride for my list of honorees, including my family members: my brother-in-law Purple Jeff the original #22. I also ride in memory of my Aunt Virginia, Helen Werner, family members who both recently lost their long fight with cancer, and my mother-in-law Lorraine. I will also ride for many other friends and family members and for many of your friends and family members. I ride for my cycling friends and fellow PMC riders, Diane, Dave, Bart, Cori, Betsy, Sue, Andy, and John who will be riding along with me this year in the PMC. I ride for my friends Joyce, Kathleen, Karen, Robin, Jen, Janet, Cathy, Keith, Margaret, Monique, Tina, Todd, Vern, and Patty, Helen and for my godmother Terry. All of them are living proof that we can cure cancer. I ride in memory of those we’ve lost, including Natalie Gubb, and my cousin Monica, who died of breast cancer at 49, my Whiner Teammate Captain Ron, and my friend Erin’s Mom. I ride for my friends Gary and Emily, who both lost their spouses to cancer and found each other in the aftermath. I ride in memory of Shira, the first “team honoree” I had riding with Team in Training. I ride for my friend Muffie whom I think of every time I drink fabulous French champagne and wish I could call for advice or to just kvetch about politics and the Giants. I ride for Eunice and the love of her life Drew, whom she lost when he was much too young to leave this world. I ride in memory of Finn, my favorite bartender, who mastered the “mocktail” my nephews loved to drink on their visits to CA. And, I ride for young Camille Chabot, who has moved on to a successful start of her 20s thanks to a successful stem cell transplant. (#CamilleStrong)
The one thing I have learned from all of them is that you must celebrate the here and now, you must take advantage of what today has to offer and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE is quitting allowed. I also ride for all of the people you honor and carry those names with me. The power of your stories keeps me pedaling.
I hope you will join me again in celebrating the power of people who want to change the world! Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
