Two years ago was my first PMC. I rode 192 miles and raised almost $5400 to support cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I rode in memory of my dad who succumb to brain cancer 18 years ago.
Last year, I rode a shorter ride because I am balancing time with my family with this amazing fundraiser. I completed 80 miles last year and raised well over $3000 thanks to all of my wonderful supporters. This year, I signed up again and I have been preparing. But life has thrown me a curve ball between when I signed up and now. My husband has been offered a wonderful new job in Cincinnati, Ohio and we are moving there the end of June. I am, nonetheless, commited to the PMC this and am following through on my support even though I won't be able to ride in the event this year. The PMC raises more money for charity than any other athletic fundraising event donates 100% of every rider-raised dollar directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
This year, I am virtually riding in memory of Greg from Plymouth who died much too young of lung cancer this past year. He was someone my husband and I got to know professionally but it was more than that. He left behind a wife and a son under 20. His work and larger than life personality will live on.
