2022 PMC: Why am I riding close to 200 miles in two days?
Walt T.
He was my fraternity brother at Lehigh and we embarked on a cross country bike trip after we graduated from college. That's when it became clear to me that Walt was a special individual. He was consistently in a great mood which was contagious. Walt thought of others first. When we lost Walt to cancer on Christmas day 2017 it was devastating.
Walt is a friend, fraternity brother, brother, father, husband, teacher, mentor and caring individual.
Riding the Pan-Mass Challenge is a small attempt by me to payback all the incredible things Walt did during his life. I plan on riding from Sturbridge Mass to Bourne (Day 1) to Provincetown on the Cape (Day 2), just about 200 miles. The Pan-Mass Challenge is an awesome organization started in 1980 to raise money for cancer. To date they have raised $831 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Cancer can strike anyone. Two of my sisters fought and beat cancer. I was diagnosed in 2019 with skin cancer just days before my first PMC. My friend from Lehigh, Dave Jones, died of a particular deadly form of skin cancer in his 40's. Any amount you can contribute to help beat this disease is greatly appreciated. 100% of the proceeds go to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Anything you can do to help will be fantastic.
