Hello everyone and welcome to my PMC story.
Everything we've said before about the fight to end cancer continues to hold true. Through an international pandemic, economic shutdown, social isolation.. cancer continues it's steady march through our society. This past year has taught us much.. it has taught us the importance of staying connected to each other, the importance of getting your regular medical check-up among other things. In August 2021, I rode a century with a small cohort of Team Perry friends from Wellesley and I was moved by folks generosity in charitable giving to this cause during a pandemic.. and guess what.. the pandemic continues into 2022..
Now.. why am I committing to riding in the PMC this year? Because cancer continues even when the world at large is focusing on COVID-19. Because my dear friend K lost her fight with ovarian cancer.. because my husband's friend H is still fighting prostate cancer, because another friend is currently fighting ovarian cancer... because my dear mother-in-law Ellen lost her life from cancer in 2017.. Because CANCER IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.. That is why I ride.
The donations you give go directly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute here in Boston, and specifically to support ground-breaking cancer research and treatment of patients TODAY. Please give anything you can to help us win this fight!
This year, I am riding from Wellesley to Bourne which is the traditional 1 day 89 mile PMC Saturday route, but this year I must raise $4000 by October 1, 2022. After 2 years of COVID 19 pandemic upheaval, we're finally back to a more traditional PMC, and although things will never be the same, my love for this ride and this cause continues.
