I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
This year is different: the health and safety implications of the global pandemic mean that instead of 7,000 riders and 4,000 volunteers gathering together, the Pan-Mass Challenge will be reimagined with each individual remaining true to the PMC mission by creating their own PMC experience. The pandemic has also brought significant challenges to Dana-Farber – carrying out research and treating immunocompromised cancer patients has become more challenging and costly – and their revenues are shrinking considerably. In addition, the Jimmy Fund’s fundraising is expected to fall by at least 60 percent.
And yet this year is not different: cancer is not taking the year off and it will steal the lives of more than 600,000 people in the US alone. So the PMC isn’t taking 2020 off and neither am I. In fact, our commitment to the mission of funding cancer research and care at Dana-Farber is more critical than ever. I will ride my own reimagined PMC. [Share your reimagined ride plans here].
I've made a personal commitment to raise $600 and I hope you can help me reach this important goal. I appreciate that the economic fallout has impacted everyone differently. If you can give, please do so. If you cannot this year, I understand.. And if you have the capacity to give a little more than you might normally, your generosity will make a tremendous difference this year.
100 percent of every dollar donated supports Dana-Farber’s world-class research and care.
