This will be my 11th ride.
Each year I have done my best to update you all on how the team at Dana Farber has helped my dad, Joe Landry, in his fight with Merkel Cell Carcinoma and what a wonderful resource they were for my mother-in-law, Ann McMurtry, during her battle with CML - chronic myelogenous leukemia. Last year, I also shared the story of my aunt Debbie Chute - who at the time was right smack in the middle of her fight. I am sorry to say that this year, I'll be riding in memory of Deb, who, after fighting for 14 months, passed away in November last year.
And for the fourth year, I will be riding in memory of Ann. This day, and this ride continue to serve as a powerful reminder of the impact of the research and care from DFCI, as they helped give Ann a chance to love all of her children and grandchildren for almost two decades after her initial diagnosis. Annmarie and I see her spirit in our children - especially as they grow into young adults - and we cherish the moments she was able to spend with them.
My Dad, btw, continues to enjoy good health. Traveling too much, working too much, and not playing enough golf. But he's working on that.
There are so many lives that have been turned upside down by cancer. I know you all have friends and loved ones with similar stories of how the doctors, nurses and professionals associated with DFCI have impacted your lives thanks to their hard work and dedication.
So - I am riding in my 11th Pan Mass Challenge this weekend and I ask for your support for this wonderful organization and the people that have had such a profound impact on our lives. I will once again draw inspiration from my team members on Team 442 - Jim McGrail, Mike Champa, Mike Panaro, Stephen Cochrane and Henry Dormitzer.
Thanks so much for your consideration - the impact of your donation will touch countless lives - and is greatly appreciated.
