40 YEARS, 1 BILLION DOLLARS!!
1984, 40 years ago, I was 26. I asked my brother to join me in a bicycling fundraiser (Pan Mass Challenge/PMC) to fight cancer. We joined a few hundred riders from Sturbridge to Ptown in MA, and the event raised about $100K. 40 years later we’re both still riding in this event which last year raised $72M with over 6K riders. And this year’s fundraising to date has brought the total raised by the PMC for Dana Farber Cancer Institute since inception in 1980 to over $1B!
Will you please help me celebrate both of these milestones (40 years riding/fundraising and $1B raised) with a generous donation to my fundraising ride this year, supporting the incredible accomplishments of Dana Farber and the PMC? The event will be held in August and this year’s goal is to bring in $75M. PMC’s donations to Dana Farber enable cutting edge research and the roll-out of clinical trials and treatments much faster than would be possible with traditional government funding and its associated restrictions. And the PMC provides over 60% of the Jimmy Fund’s (fundraising arm of Dana Farber) annual revenue.

My Team Huckleberry: My “Team Huckleberry” was formed in 1997 and has been “going the extra mile” by adding a third day to the two-day, 192-mile PMC ever since. Our 3-day, 300-mile effort consists of cycling from the NY State border across all of Massachusetts to the tip of Cape Cod. Our goal is to motivate our sponsors to go the extra mile too and kick in a little extra to this effort.
Your donation is the what makes my ride meaningful, and you should know that 100% of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
If you can give, please support the PMC’s mission, and my personal commitment to raise over $12,000. I'm hoping that this year we can together help the PMC meet its 2024 fundraising goal. But whether or not you can give this year, please show your support with words of encouragement or gestures of support when you see a PMC rider on the road!
Thank you for bringing us closer by the mile to a world without cancer. With my riding and your financial support, let's crush this beast! Cancer started the fight; please help finish it!
Best Regards,
Jon
