We Ride From Sturbridge One Last Time!

Not that anyone who hasn't ridden PMC would have any reason to feel any sentimentality for the rest-stop town bisected by I-84 just over the Massachusetts border. But those of us who know every dip and curve and crest on Route 20 until we turn right to start climbing up Masonic Home Road, who can conjur the smell of the Host hotel indoor pool on command, and who will always remember the look of the sun rising over the town at 5:30 on however many Saturdays in August will feel a sense of loss as we start Day One of the PMC in Sturbridge for the last time this year.

The PMC is moving its start to Worcester in 2026, where we'll have nicer accomodations and less climbing to greet us first thing in the morning. Only one of these two things is a welcome development. to my mind. But those are worries for next year.

This year, though, I'll get myself ready to PR my last rides up the Masonic and Sutton and Hartford climbs and go out in a blaze of glory. This will, naturally, render me miserable for the remaining 90 miles but we all make sacrifices sometimes, right? What's little added suffering?

I'm excited to ride and fundraise for my 15th PMC. Let's send Sturbridge out with a bang!
