Hi friends, this year I will be riding in my first Pan-Mass Challenge on August 2nd and 3rd from Wellesley to the Provincetown, which is approximately 162 miles. I am riding in support of my stepfather Kal Nekvasil and my soon to be mother-in-law, Asa Onufry who is currently still in the battle.
The PMC is leading a charge to beat cancer and raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. The PMC surpassed $28 million raised so far this year, bringing the fundraising total since 1980 to $1 billion. 100% of donations goes directly to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to finding a cure.
Kal is a unique creature. He is a genius, full of energy, and the life of the party. Last year, he was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. He then had surgery to remove his prostate, followed by 38 rounds of radiation at Dana Farber. It has been a year post surgery and to date, his cancer is undetectable. To list just a few of Kal’s hobbies, he enjoys tennis, chess, ping-pong, basketball, and playing with his dog Nola.
Asa is gentile, kind, and carefree. She was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer called Glioblastoma in April 2023. Her doctor is Dr. Reardon, the Clinical Director for Neuro-Oncology at Dana Farber. She has been through chemotherapy and radiation. Asa enjoys gardening, knitting, and her cancer-patient-only workout classes at the YMCA.
Thank you for reading and your endless support. Kal and Asa, you are my inspiration and thank you for your continued strength.
Let’s ride!
