Dear Family and Friends,
It’s that time of the year again that I am asking for your support to raise money for cancer research. As many of you know, I started riding in memory of my father who lived graciously and courageously with cancer. After aggressive surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy, my father was sent home with no hope.
Last September, my dear friend’s 15 year old son, Sebi, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic B Cell Leukemia. This came as a shock to us all as we view cancer as an elderly disease that generally spares children. Tests, daily doctors’ visits (as well as occasional overnight stays), and painful treatments became part of his normal routine. He has shown natural resilience and perseverance. Sebi loves hiking, photographing wild animals and nature. He wants to be a doctor and advocate for the environment through his camera lens. His wish is to travel to Churchill, Canada to see the polar bears when he beats Leukemia.
This year, in addition to keeping my father’s memory alive, I’m dedicating my ride to Sebi and his family. On the first weekend in August, I will be riding a 168-mile route from Wellesley to Provincetown to raise $6000. 100 percent of the funds will go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
Together, lets raise money that goes towards developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research and breakthrough discoveries.
