Dear Friends, Neighbors and Family,
This year will be my 16th year riding in the Pan Mass Challenge, and with your help we have raised over $72,000 for Dana Farber and helped fund incredible improvements in the treatment of cancer.
Because of a personal commitment (friend’s wedding) falling on PMC weekend, and because 170 miles on a bicycle in two days is not quite crazy enough, we have decided to do the ride “re-imagined” this year and do it all the way from Boston to Provincetown, adding an extra 20 miles to the trip.
My brother San will join me in Boston this Saturday, July 13th and we will set out from there and ride 20 miles to Wellesley then pick up the official “day one” route there, and continue on to Bourne MA. On day two we will ride from Bourne to Provincetown in time to catch a 10:30 ferry back to Boston. A true round trip this time.
While this may sound a little crazy with no water stops or PMC staff around to fix our bikes, carry our bags and feed us, we think we’re up to the challenge.
Now for the hard part… I would like my regular and new supporters to donate generously to our effort. Even though we are not riding on the official weekend, 100% of all money donated will go directly to Dana Farber to support their continued effort to beat cancer in our lifetime.
I am convinced we can find a cure for cancer, and we have made amazing progress beating many cancers that a few years ago would have been fatal. I am asking for your help in meeting my goal of raising $4,000 for the PMC 2024, which we will be riding this weekend.
Please join me again in my quest to help fund Dana Farber and the research that will eventually find a cure. I have committed to raise $4,000 this year, so if you can pledge over $100.00, I would appreciate it. Be generous! I'm kicking off my fundraising with a $250.00 pledge.
With heartfelt thanks, I'm asking you to join me again by following the link: http://www.pmc.org/VA0003.
I ride in memory of Rosalie and Norman Asbridge, Vincent Gagliardi, Theresa Tibert and Glen and Cheryl Thomas. Please support my quest to beat this disease by following the link: http://www.pmc.org/VA0003 and donating online. It's simple and secure. Just follow the link and click the donate to my ride button.
I started this quest in memory of my father, Norman, who died of colon cancer, but in the twenty years since, I've continued to watch cancer ravage my friends and family. Please join me in my effort to help find a cure.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Pan Mass Challenge, it was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr and has raised over half a billion dollars for Dana-Farber through the Jimmy Fund since 1980.
PMC is a very efficient charity, which donates 100% of the rider raised donations to charity. All overhead is covered by corporate sponsors.
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Vincent Asbridge
