Why I Ride ...
Team Eradicate is a diverse group of cyclists who come together from many different places to ride for a cure. The team was founded in 2001 by Matthew Sheehan. That first year, there were a mere eight riders, raising an admirable $29,000. The start was modest but the team and its efforts have grown steadily.
CORE BELIEFS
- Cancer is a serious and powerful disease that must be met by serious and powerful counter-measures
- Cancer can and will be eliminated
- By aggressively raising funds and awareness, we can accelerate the fight against a disease that has taken so many loved ones from each and every one of us
- We can be more powerful and effective, whether in fundraising or in offering assistance to those combating the disease, as a team
PEDAL PARTNERS
The team's engagement has been most directly visible in working with our Pedal Partners. Each one has had tremendous determination and sparkle, giving us much inspiration, and we take pride in being able to ride for them.
In 2023, we rode for our Pedal Partner Evelyn. Just after her fifth birthday she was diagnosed with standard risk B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL, or BCell ALL). When she didn’t hit remission after Consolidation, they moved her to the high risk category. She is now halfway through treatment on a 2 1/2 year plan. It's not been an easy road for Evelyn, but the support of her parents and younger sister keep her spirits high.
Team Eradicate is proud to participate in the PMC. If you'd like to join, volunteer on the event weekend, or sponsor Team Eradicate, contact Team Captain Casey Antonelli at antonellicasey@gmail.com.
