Thank you for stopping by to learn more about Team Crank. Our team was formed in 2012 by a small crew of PMC alumni who live in Acton and Boxborough. Over the years our small and mighty team has grown and we are now 51 riders strong. Between 2012 and 2024 Team Crank has raised over $5,000,000 for Dana Farber, and we hope to increase that amount to over $6,5m this year.
At the heart of Team Crank are our riders, our families, and our supporters. It takes a village to train, fundraise, and ride in the PMC. Without question, we Crankies and our families are committed to the PMC, raising money for cancer research and treatment, and enjoying the experience the whole time. While we have fun riding and supporting the PMC, our mission is serious and challenging and we are determined to achieve our goal this year to raise $1,500,000!
We hope you will join us in funding Dana Farber in its quest to find better treatments and cures for cancer. Our fundraising is directed toward five Dana Farber research programs. The first two programs are developing novel treatments for extremely difficult to treat pediatric cancers and are inspired by our two pedal partners, Tommy Joffrion, who is battling brain tumors (PGLA), and Grant Weidman, who succesfully beat T-ALL, an aggressive form of pediatric leukemia. We are also excited to continue supporting the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research (which funds the best and brightest scientists at Dana Farber and their innovative and most promising new research and treatments), the Dana Farber Head, Neck and Salivary Gland Research Program, in memory of Ebit Spears, the late wife/mom of teammates David and Ellen McCormick, and this year we are also supporting Dr. Patrick Wen's Brain Tumor Research Fund, who is working on cutting edge treatments for Glioblastoma. The hope is that through new targeted therapies patients such as Tommy, Grant and Dana will not need to endure the very difficult treatments and long-term side effects caused by current treatments.
The best part about Team Crank besides our charming personalities and epic speeds on our bikes? Our fundraising will once again have double the impact! We are beyond grateful to have had the incredibly generous support of the Warren Alpert Foundation, which is dedicated to finding new treatments for disease, over the last several years. This year WAF will providing matching funds so all donations are doubled up to $750,000!
Please consider making a tax deductible donation to our team. All funds donated to the PMC go 100% to finding the cure--the PMC is one of the most efficient charities in the country.
Let's start Crankin' for a Cure!
