PMC FUNDRAISING GOAL: $2020 to celebrate 20 years in 2020!
I've been volunteering with my dad, David Silva, for 20 years now! This year, my dad and I will be holding our own ride that Saturday, August 1, up the NH coast!
At first, the PMC was an opportunity for us to do something special together each year, but has since become even more meaningful for me. I lost my Uncle Richard in 2003, my Uncle Joe in 2013, and my Uncle Tom in 2015 to cancer. The PMC is an opportunity for me to honor their memories while doing what small part I can so that everyone can be Living Proof.
Over the years, my dad and I have helped to park bikes, pitch tents, and haul (literal tons of!) luggage. It's a joy to reunite with our luggage family each year- it's tough work, but we all seem to keep coming back :)
For five years, my dad and I also coordinated the Pelham, NH PMC Kids Ride under the Team Joe's Patriots banner. Although the ride ended in 2017, it is one of the most rewarding experiences and proudest accomplishments of my life.
The PMC to me is family, friendship, tradition, hope, love. Even though we won't be able to come together this year, I'm still going to fight to get closer by the mile. And year 21 will be all the sweeter!
