The 1st photo is part of my team visitng our Pedal Partner Nicole, an 8 yr old leukemia survivor in 2005. In 2003, she was too weak to ride and therefore didn't like her bike. Now, she loves her bike and rides everywhere (without training wheels). Her dad Greg is on the left. In 2011 our team has a new pedal partner, Olivia, a very recent survivor of bone cancer in her leg:

2019 marks the 30th year in a row I will train for and ride in the 175 mile 2-day Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) on August 3-4, to support the Jimmy Fund of the world renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute. It's also the 30th year I am sending out letters unabashedly requesting donations to help fight cancer (the country's second leading cause of death).

I'm doing something none of us want to do: I'm riding in memory of my grandma Esther who succombed to cancer in 1998 and my mother-in-law, Doris Binstock, a cancer victim who died in Sept 2004, and in honor of my wife Ellen, who was successfully treated for breast cancer at Dana Farber during Fall 2006 and my mom who is a breast cancer survivor. How do we maintain faith or find joy in the face of a sometimes difficult reality that we often can't control? Part of it for me is reflected in your generosity and the generosity of your fellow sponsors, which has allowed me to raise over $1,700,000 over the last 30 years. Your support is the foundation of my commitment.

Lance Armstrong retired from competitive cycling and then came back, but I am making no such wimpy declaration here. You have not heard the last from me, especially if I don't get your reply soon. As is my custom, your generosity will be rewarded with another batch of humor and the thought that you did something useful today. I am very grateful for any support, especially this year.
