Why I Ride ...
This year I'll be riding in my 10th Pan Mass Challenge to fight cancer. I'll once again be joining the crowd the first weekend in August to ride 187 miles over two days to help fight cancer. The Pan Mass Challenge remains as important as it has ever been. The money raised by the PMC for the fight against all forms of cancer continues to make ground-breaking new therapies and treatments possible.
I ride in memory of my Mother, Lisl, who lost her battle against cancer in 2011; Chuck, my college roommate and fellow US Air Force Veteran who lost his battle in 2012; family friend Kris, who lost her battle in 2015; and my good college friend, Pete, who lost a five year battle with cancer this past year. In the past few years other friends of mine, including Jimmy Mac and Jeff, have also passed away due to cancer. I ride in their memory. Many good friends and co-workers are cancer survivors or have been impacted by cancer. I'm sure you or someone you know has been impacted as well. The stories of illness, survival, impacted lives and heroic work to combat this disease continue.
Over the past 9 years, you have helped me raise over $58,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's fight agianst cancer. As this is my 10th year riding, I've decided to stretch my fundraising goal this year to $10,000. Any donation you make helps! Matching donations by your employers multiply our impact. I hope you will consider supporting my PMC ride this year. The PMC will take place August 3rd and 4th. Your generosity continues to power my pedal strokes!
Thank you,
Scott Hardiman
