Hello everyone,
You may recall that last year I dedicated my PMC ride to my dear sister-in-law Laura Yarvis, aka Warrior Princess. I am BEYOND thrilled to report that Laura has completed her treatments and is now CANCER FREE for the first time in a long time. While she still has lot of recovery in front of her, cancer has met it's f-ing match!!
Not every story is a success story, and no one's battle is easy. So, I'm back on the bike once again.
Because of YOUR generosity and support, last year WE raised a record $75 million!

But this year’s record goal of $76m exists within a climate of economic uncertainty and funding for science is under attack. As Billy Starr, Chairman of the PMC, recently stated:
With the President's proposed 40% cut to the NIH budget, the negative impact to Dana-Farber could be $50 million, and as much as a $200 million over the next four years.
NIH grants fuel the science that saves lives. These funds do not sit in an endowment; they’re at work in the labs and clinics. Losing those funds and/or the people who utilize them means stalling progress. Risking jobs. Slowing the momentum in our fight against cancer. This is not politics. This is personal. Because when federal support is under attack, patients are the ones who pay the price. That is why what you do – what we do – matters more than ever. We are the largest single contributor to Dana-Farber. And when others may pump the brakes, the PMC community needs to accelerate.
So yes, we ride to raise money. But as importantly, we ride to protect progress. We ride to defend hope. And we ride to ensure that nothing—and no one—stands in the way of our funding the cures for cancer.
Please join me in proudly honoring Laura, as well as Cindy, Mom, Bob, Varton, Carlene, Tracey, Jessica, Mary, Gail, Beth, Linda, Patti, Lisa, John, Bob, Craig, Mahri, Paul, Mark, Marci, and of course Dmitri.
