Why I Ride ...
Year 10
In memory of life long friend Paul Hartley.
I'm riding the 2025 Pan Mass Challenge from Babson College to the Mass Maritime Academy on day 1 and day 2 P-town with Dr Bradley McGregor, my wife Diane Fagan, the Ocean State Cancer Crushers. Friends of Chris, and PMC Zwift ride friends including PMC CEO Jarrett Collins and all the great people I've met since my experience with PMC began back in 2013.
The PMC athletic fundraiser raises more than any other cancer cause in the world. And I know by committing to my fundraising minimum I raise the bar. 100% of what I raise goes to the Dr McGregor Research fund at Dana Farber. Why? Because my friend Paul Hartley could not beat stage 4 renal cell carcinoma, age 53 is too young to die and 4 years from diagnosis wasn't enough time!
I rode the PMC Wellesley Century Solo in 2021 and it inspired my friend Paul Hartley to ride PMC with me. We created PMC team Ocean State Cancer Crushers in 2022. We trained like we were preparing for the ride of our lives still kids and warriors out to cross a finish line together. Paul pushed the cancer back and got himself into tremendous shape riding the 2022 PMC Wellesley Century. It is this memory I will hold on to for the rest of my life.
Paul and Sharon are my oldest friends. A couple since they began dating our freshman year of high school 1985. With heavy hearts We Ride On in Memory of Paul
