My father had two bouts of prostate cancer. During his first treatment, doctors attempted to remove his prostate but had to stop the surgery due to uncontrollable bleeding. He then had radiation seeds implanted, which we knew would last for 10-15 years. When the cancer returned aggressively, he had already moved from Florida to Massachusetts to be closer to me and my family. Luckily, he was then treated at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He received excellent, compassionate treatment there until he ultimately lost his second battle with cancer.
