It's 2025. I'm 58 years old. My first cancer diagnoses was 25 years ago. Unbelievable. It is still hard to imagine that if I were born just 30 years earlier, I probably would not have survived.

I do not ride because I had cancer. I do not ride for my mother and father who both had cancer. I am riding for the people who will hear those words you have cancer now and in the future. I am riding for the people left behind by the loss of a loved one to cancer. The boys and girls who will grow up without their mom or dad. Perhaps, worse, the parents who will face the diagnoses of their child.

We have come so very far with the treatment of some cancers. Survival rates keep climbing. But each year, and 2022 was no exception, I find my self at the funeral for a family member, friend, neighbor or client who dies because their cancer wasn't treatable. We know money funds research and research produces cures.

People I will never know, decades past, raised money that funded research that lead to the treatments for my cancers so I can be here today as a husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor. Now it is my chance to save the lives of people I will never meet in what we hope is the not to distant future.
