I began my involvement with the PMC in 2003 when a neighbor and friend, Phil Morin, was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer. A group of neighbors and friends got together and formed Team Phil's Phriends to show support for Phil and the entire Morin Family. Unfortunately, Phil lost his battle shortly before our first ride, however Phil's Phriends continued to this day and ride in his memory and continue to raise funds to do our small part in the fight against cancer. This year will be a very special ride as Phil's son Brian will be making his PMC Debut and riding on Saturday with us from Sturbridge to Bourne. I am also dedicating this year’s ride to two very strong and inspirational women who both recently lost their battles to this horrible disease
The first is Carol Round (78). She is the mother of my brother-in-law; a kinder or more sweet woman you will not meet. Carol battled cancer on and off well over 10 years. We spent many holidays together over the years and she is essentially my children’s third grandmother. Due to her always positive outlook and the efforts and various treatments that she received from Dana Farber over the years, Carol was able to attend and witness her granddaughter get married this past fall. I will always remember her constant smile and love for family.
The second is my cousin’s wife Kelley L. (Tallent) Lounsbury (44). Kelly was bound and determined to give it her all when she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in the Spring of 2020. She put up a courageous fight and remained strong for her 3 young boys throughout her 20-month long battle despite being faced with hurdle after hurdle that was put in front of her. She faced the challenge head on with poise, strength, and determination with every ounce of her being until she succumbed this past January. She will live on through her 3 boys and will be missed by all that knew her.
Please take a moment and consider contributing to support my fund-raising effort for Dana Farber so that the future “Carol’s and Kelly’s” can be armed with the best possible chance to beat this dreaded disease. It is important to note that every Rider Raised donation is 100% Donated to Dana Farber. Please help support their efforts to fight this horrific disease. Great strides have been made in the past few years that Carol & Kelly both directly benefited from over the past few years, so please help us continue to push forward in the fight against cancer. Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated.
By Reaching my $8,000 Goal this year I will have personally raised over $50,000 for Dana Farber and can’t thank each of my supporters enough, your consideration is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Pete
