Your generosity will help thousands of people. Yes I am asking you to help Dana Farber Cancer Institute, by donating even a small amount to my fund raising event.
My name is Paul Knudsen and I am participating in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC), the largest cancer research charity event in the USA. 100% of the money raised goes to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Specifically, the team I am a member of, “Patriots Platelet Pedalers”, is entirely focused on raising money for one of the worst of the blood cancers, Multiple Myeloma.
Multiple Myeloma is a cancer very much a part of my life. I was diagnosed with early Multiple Myeloma precursors in 2011 and was told normal life expectations are three to five years. Having now survived more than 10 years, I owe this to not only my local doctors, but also the entire team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Sadly, Multiple Myeloma became even more close to our family, as my wife was diagnosed with Smoldering Myeloma last year. It is very rare for both a husband and wife to be afflicted with Myeloma.
Hopefully, you are still interested in what you have read so far.
To explain the Pan Mass Challenge, in simple terms it is a charity bicycle ride event. The event is held in Massachusetts, and allows riders to ride various distances, some over 200 miles. As mentioned, the money raised by each rider is 100% going towards blood cancer research at Dana Farber.
Living in South Florida, unfortunately with Covid concerns and limited time to arrange travel, I, actually my wife and I decided to ride the event as “Virtual Riders”. Sounds kind of computerish, but it’s not. We will be accomplishing our ride here in Florida. The plan is to do a 50 mile off-road ride on September 11, 2021, at Santos Trail in Central Florida, riding our tandem mountain bike.
September 11…That date, 9-11, was a tragic day. The day was horrible then, and now 20 years later, we are seeing more and more cases of Multiple Myeloma in the brave persons that saved so many.
Therefore, my Pan Mass Challenge ride, shared with my wife who also has her own Pan Mass Challenge fundraising page, will be ridden for the countless numbers of people that are battling Myeloma, or have been taken from us on account of Myeloma, and also to help find a cure for this devastating blood cancer. My ride also honors, the bravery of those that help others, not just 9-11, but anyone risking themselves to help others each and every day.
So I ask, actually am kind of pleading, that you find it in your heart to help others by making a generous donation. Your donation can be either mailed / handed to me as a check or directly donated by clicking the “Donate” button on the Pan Mass Challenge Website at www.pmc.org. Enter my name, Paul Knudsen, or my direct fundraising link is www.pmc.org/pk0156 and the donation goes directly there. If donating by check, please make the check out to PMC. If needed the check can be mailed to me at:
