This summer, I'm joining colleagues and riding in the Pan-Mass challenge, a 2-day bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown. In it's 45th year, the PMC will pass the $1 billion mark in fundraising, with 100% of all funds raised going directly to cancer research and treatment.
The impact cancer has had on my family and friends has resulted in mostly positive endings with early detection, treatment and access to world class healthcare. I understand that we have all been incredibly fortunate to have access to these resources and that many are not as fortunate. Curing cancer can seem like a daunting task, especially for those of us not in medical research, but if we all contribute small gestures to reaching this goal, it can be achieved. I believe in my daughter's lifetime, we will find a cure to cancer.
I am riding in honor of our family's Uncles, Aunts, niece, father, friends and neighbors whom have all had a personal battle with cancer. I'm looking forward to switching gears after running Hardrock 100 on July 12th (!) and riding out to Ptown in their honor on August 3rd and 4th.
About the PMC: 100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.
