In August I'll be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge for the 7th time.
The PMC is a two-day 160-mile bike ride that raises money to support research into cancer.
Here's how it works: I'll ride the 160 miles ... and you don't have to! But I am asking you to donate whatever you can in support of my ride. Any amount will be deeply appreciated.
And here's the thing: Every single dollar you donate goes directly to cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Not a penny goes to overhead for the event. There are other sources for those expenses.
I originally rode in this event to support a young friend (pictured above) who was diagnosed with a brain tumor a decade ago. Until recently there were no labs in the US specifically dedicated to researching pediatric brain tumors. Now the Dana Farber Cancer Institute has a thriving program that does exactly that. The work they do will help a lot of kids with brain tumors – and that might include Dmitri. I've targeted my PMC funds to The Dmitri Itzkovitz Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund, which helps to fund this lab.
I'm happy to report that earllier this month, Dmitri turned 21.
Last year the raised $72 million. This year the goal is $75 million. And this year's fundraising will bring the all-time fundraising for the PMC to over $1 Billion
Have I mentioned that ALL that money, every dollar, goes directly to research at Dana Farber? Nothing goes to overhead or other expenses.
Riding 160 miles in two days is, for me, not easy. But the really hard part is asking family and friends for money year after year. Still, I come to you again, helmet in hand, asking for a donation of any size.
I’d be truly grateful to have your support! Every dollar helps.
Thank You!
