Why I Ride ...
PMC2024 will be my second year riding the Pan-Mass Challenge. I will be joining my family and the Evan’s Crew Team riding in loving memory of my cousin Evan Mandeville. In November 2011, Evan was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and fatal pediatric brain tumor. A year after he was diagnosed Evan passed away at the age of 11. Growing up with Evan was always an adventure. He was an amazing ball of energy whether we were climbing trees that were probably too high or running around the yard. He was always so happy and his energy was infectious. I hope to capture some of that energy and courage as I train for this challenge. Getting back on a bike reminds me of riding through the campgrounds with Evan and all my cousins. He was our firework and will never be forgotten.
I am riding in remembrance of Evan and to help raise funds for DIPG research. I hope that one day no other family should have to go through what Evan’s friends and family have gone through. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an amazing organization and in the words of my aunt “were the nicest people you they wish they had never met.” Your support will help continue to work towards a cure. Please join me in supporting their efforts.
100% of the funds raised by Evan’s Crew will go directly to the Evan T. Mandeville DIPG research fund so that one day there will be a cure.
