Why I Ride ...
This year I am pleased to announce I will be joining the team through Baystate Physical Therapy for my3rd conesecutive PMC ride, taking place August 2-3! I am a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading the charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of the rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I have known about this amazing ride for many years but came directly involved two summers ago while working for a Baystate clinic where I met and worked with the team’s pedal partner, Celia. Celia was diagnosed with a form of leukemia in 2020 that drove her and her mother away from the rest of their family in Pakistan, in order to receive treatment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic.
When I met Celia, she was just another fun, energetic, and loving 4 year old that could put a smile on anyones face. When I heard her story, I could not believe what this young lady has gone through, but was more amazed by the way in which she carried herself day in and day out. Celia loves the beach, art, playing with toys, watching movies, and of course bike riding. She is currently living happy and healthy with her family due to the efforts of the Dana Farber Cancer institute and Jimmy Fund. I can confidently say that she has inspired me and given me a perspective that will not only benefit my career as a Physical Therapist, but my life as a whole.
