Why I Ride ...
For the first time in the history of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a Boston Hubway Bicycle will be ridden for the 160 mile bike challenge to raise money to support life-saving cancer research and treatment(specifically the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund). I will be the bicyclist!
I will be partnering with New Balance, the Pan-Mass Challenge and Boston Hubway Bicycles on August 2-3 to ride a slightly modified New Balance sponsored Hubway Bike from Wellesley to Provincetown during the 2014 PMC. This bike will be approximately 3x the weight of a standard road bike, has only three gears and a significantly larger tire base and seat; the only modification will be clip-in pedals. Feel free to check out my facebook page!

The overall goal of taking on this challenge would be to use the novelty of my undertaking to increase cancer awareness and further PMC’s mission to raise money to support life-saving cancer research and treatment while exemplifying New Balance’s tag-line of “Let’s Make Excellent Happen”.
My objectives for the PMC are aligned with New Balance’s message of motivating and inspiring active consumers to reach a new level of personal performance, a new level of “Excellent”, and PMC’s core philosophy of success “those who commit themselves in full are those who achieve results”.
Successfully completing a 160 miles bike challenge over two days on a Hubway bicycle will demonstrate that any individual has the ability to push oneself physically to achieve the possible, raise awareness, and lead to a very successful fundraising campaign.
I also plan on chronicling my journey / training for the PMC with a Go-Pro camera and live-blog the event using social media, spreading both awareness of the PMC and the New Balance brand at the same time. Through this, I will be achieving my personal new level of “Excellence”.
I hope you will support my efforts as I embark on this journey. I am looking forward to raising upwards of $20,000 to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber. I currently have the bike and have been training on it for the past few weeks... definitely not the most comfortable ride but I look forward to the challenge!
Please help make this dream of mine a reality! With that said, I realize that there are many other highly deserving charities that you support, and appreciate any contribution you feel comfortable making.
