Cancer is ugly. I have seen it impact the lives of so many people I know and love. Nothing is more heartbreaking than witnessing a family coming to terms with a diagnosis that gives little hope and makes loves ones feel powerless in their ability to help. I want to contribute to a cause that can create real change through research and advancements in treatment, ultimately making the difference for someone between a death sentence and a workable solution leading to remission.
I am fortunate my family is full of cancer SURVIVORS: breast cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, skin cancer, and multiple myeloma have all made their way through my close family, along with the scary diagnoses, tearful announcements, and long grueling treatment plans that followed. Fortunately, early detection and swift medical interventions made possible by continuous advancements in the field have led to positive outcomes in each instance. Of course, so many cancer stories don't end like this one, and that's where my decision to ride the PMC comes in. Riding 180+ miles on a bike over 48hrs feels at times like an insurmountable challenge, but knowing every dollar I raise goes directly to Dana Farber means MORE positive outcomes like those my family has experienced. It is worth every moment of pain and discomfort coming my way this August.
For 2025, I am embarking on my fourth PMC. I am honored to share I will ride alongside my father-in-law, Norman Inkpen, an avid cyclist who is currently receiving lifesaving treatment from Dana Farber for multiple myeloma. He is living proof of the PMC's impact. Please join me in supporting this incredible organization and make a donation to our ride!
THANK YOU!
