On August 5th and 6th I'm riding my bike 192miles - From Sturbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts - to raise money for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). My Goal is to raise $5,000.
Since 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge has raised more money for charity than any other event in the country. More importantly, 100% of the donations to the PMC go directly to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's commitment to finding a cure for cancer.
The PMC's goal this year is to raise $47 million dollars for Dana-Farber, one of the pre-eminent cancer research hospitals in the world. I would be honored if you are able to support me; any amount is a huge help!
For those who do not know me, cancer has deeply, and profoundly affected my life over the last four years: In January of 2013, after one year of marriage, I lost my wife, Jessica Arnold, at age 31 to a rare form of cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. Jess can be seen in the picture above with her beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Zoe, and Zoe's little brother Rudy; both of whom we also lost to cancer).
In July of 2015, I lost my mother, Carole Moreau, to breast cancer. My Mother devoted her entire life to making sure my sisters and I found life, learning, and love outside of the small, rural town where we grew up; I carry her heart with me wherever I go (she loved e.e. cummings!)
Why I ride:
- I ride because I can, because I love it, and because it's worth it.
- I ride to honor the memory, and celebrate the spirit of, three beautiful women whose time with us was cut short by cancer: Jess Arnold, Carole Moreau, and Susie Reardon.
- I ride so everyone who has cancer is able to afford world-class treatment.
- I ride so families are able to get the support services they need.
- I ride so that some day, some how, some way, we find a cure.
I ask for your support to help eradicate this terrible disease that has taken so much from all of us. Thank you!
